Have you tried it? What happened?

If it's an Intel made board, then not likely. Most Intel boards a locked and so you can't make any changes to FSB, Ram timings etc.

can yuo tell me other hardware configs for a good overclock around 3 Ghz.?????

Don't get an Intel board. They're really for proper OEM suppliers (most Gateway, HP, Dell are rebranded Intel boards). Not worth the bother, and they're not that cheap either.
