    building my first PC

This time I will build it miself.
    And I want it quiet.

    Antec P180.
Abit AB9 QuadGT or Asus P5B Deluxe.
PSU Corsair 620 or Seasonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT.
    Core duo2 E6600.
    Coolermaster HyperTX.
    2G PC-6400 OCZ Platinum.
    Innovision 3D 8800GTS 320MB.
    Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Ex.
    150GB Western Digital Raptor.
    400GB Seagate Barracuda SATA II.
    Samsung SH-S183A Black DVD +/-R/RW

My first choice for motherboard is the Abit AB9 QuadGT, because I really like what I read about "µGuru Tech". I would like to control the fans for minimun noice. I have a good feeling with this card, but also the Asus P5B Deluxe looks really interesting.
Wich one do you think is better for video editing?
Will I have to many problems with the Corsair 620 and the Antec p180?
I read that the cables are litle bit small.
Will be better the Seasonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT?
Is the Coolermaster HyperTX. a good silence fan?

and finally, do you think that I will have any other problem or incompativility?
I would like to heard your sugestions and recomendsations.

    thanks

i would choose the corsair as it is modular, although the seasonic is a great psu too. cable lengths should be fine with both

the HyperTX is very much the same as the Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro..Theres nothing in them for cooling performance but the freezer is more quiet if I remember correctly.

The Raptor will be a nosiey bugga..you do better with Two 160gb 7200rpm HD's in raid 0..cheaper too.

Other than that it looks like a good build. Check out scan for the 320mb GTS.. their around £165 for the XFX version at the moment. I'd prefer them to innovision..just preference.

I read that thye samsung hardrive have a lot of vibration, thats wahy I didnt chouse it.

I read a really good review of the HyperTX in http://www.overclockersonline.net/in...num=772&pnum=6 and it have interesting price.
How about Scythe Mine Rev. B?
If not maybe I will expend and etra amounth of money in the ninja.
Where can I get nexus fans?

I read in http://www.videoguys.com/ that is not good for video edition make a Raid in the bootdisks. I thoght that putting the hardrive in the botton part of the P180 is enoght. Maybe I will nedd to buy some Acoustic Material Kit.

I found in ebuyer the Innovision 3D for £174.94. the XFX looks good too, but is there any diference between tham when they are standard versions?

raid is a hassle if you use an os like windows xp and previous, you'll need a drivers disk on floppy. vista is much more nicer to use a raid. if you dont want a raid for the os then swap it round and use the 400gb as the main hd.

If I do that I will loose the high speed that I wanted.

You could try 2 Seagate 250gb 16mb cache 7200.10's in RAID instead of the 150 raptor and 400 Seagate.

Isn't alot of performance difference between the 7200.10 and the raptors but they are generally quieter and cheaper!

As for the power supplies, the Corsair HX is near identicle to the Seasonic S12 (They are pretty much the same power supply) but it has modular cables, if you like modular cabling get the HX, if not just get which ever is cheaper

The seagate 10 series are reknowned for hot operation and poor track record

i suggest you look at western digital or different versions of the seagate if you must have seagates...

scthe mine looks ok but a not sure of the it's performance and whether it will fit with your proposed mainbaord

the ninja really is the best performer for silence and cooling effciency - don't take my word for it have a good read of all the reviews at

I don't suppose anyone has some links to elaborate on this? Maybe my head isn't working right now, but I can't seem to find much on google.

I actually picked up a 160GB 10 series last week as my first non-maxtor drive in 7 years(They did me well, only lost 1x40GB drive out of 20 or so various models), and so far it's run cool, quiet, and fast.

So the WD Caviar SE16 will be.

I will use the trick I say to customers when I sell computers in staples:

    - Think in the money that your are going to spend and divide it by 3years. Is not to much, isnt it? Why dont you spend some extra money and buy a better computer?

So the ninja will be in aria pc is for 27£, not to expensive divide in 3 years,

£27 for a ninja is cheap!

cannot emphasise enough the value of spcr.com if you are looking for silent computing

I haven't heard of them being running too hot before, only issue I know of is that some are louder than others, depending on where and when they were manufactured which is mentioned in the URL you posted off OcUK

I've got 2 of the 500gb models myself and they rarely go above 40c, luckily there also the quiet ones.

Anyhoo the Western Digital SE16's are pretty good too, have one in another system and its pretty quiet, it's a lil slower than the Seagate 7200.10 but not by much.

ciber-nagual mentioned in his first post about video editing, in my oppinion the 7200.10's will be better for this due to perpendicular read/write method they use.

If the original poster doesn't mind raid and would prefer western digital take a look at the RE's instead of the SE's there a little more expensive but they get an extra 2 year warranty

Ive got 3 seagate barracudas, and they all seem to have good temps.

    30C
    32C
    33C

Thats with very slow case fans, and pretty bad cable management. If I was to make a complaint about them, it would be how much they can vibrate. But temperature isn't an issue to me. I like 'em.
