    RAM Vista scores

    Why does my decent £100 corsier 2GB of RAM score lower than 2GB of HP RAM?! I get a score of 5.3 and HP stuff gets 5.5, makes no sence to me! All of my components are better than the HP box too. Not realy an issue, just bugs me, any ideas?!

    could be issues to do with the ram timing settings in the bios, but i'm not sure.

    Indeed, might be worth hand setting the RAM frequency, voltages and timings. SPD has come a long way but motherboards don't always (or rarely) agree with SPD unfortunately.

    I got a score of 5.2 with my Crucial Balistix CL3 ram when I had it in single channel mode by mistake. When I changed to Dual channel it went up to 5.9

    It shouldn't be, I was running at that with my 2GB and I got 5.9.

    What's the RAM 533, 667 or 800?

    I've got HP ram (667) in my box, and I get 5.9 Ram score. Not particularly impressed with a CPU score of 5.4 though!

    My RAM timings (according to CPUz) is 5-5-5-15

    Yeah running at 800mhz.

    Just doesnt make any sense to me, makes me think I should have spent £100 on 4GB instead of 2GB or £50 on 2GB and just settle for cheaper RAMwhich might have given me a better score although I am sure the score does not really matter!

    Are we talking about the built-in performance rating here? If so, you know that's about as reliable as.....something utterly unreliable, right? My 3GHz Northwood and PC3200 RAM scores 5.6 under Vista.....
