Hi y'all
I'm currently putting together my new build and I bought the Artic Coolig Freezer 7 Pro (which comes with paste on it) and I bought a 3.5g tube of Artic Silver 5. Which is better? I'm presuming the Artic Silver and if so whats the best way to remove the paste from the Artic Freezer? A piece of plastic or cardboard and scraping (gently ofc :P)?

Not much in it really, the AS5 is the popular choice.
Clean off the old stuff with a dry paper towel, and if you have any, use some isopropyl alcohol, unperfumed nail varnish remover, or akasa tim clean.
The stuff that comes with the Arctic Coller is sposed to be very good.
The temp drops are not that significant whichever you use tbph.

if you already got the arctic silver, use it if your temps are too high or that preapplied arctic pro stuff doesnt give good temps. if you're not going to sell your cpu and you want the absolute best temps, then get coollaboratory liquid pro. its 12cm in length and can cover alot more cpus than arctic silver. although its advanced so if you dont like all that then use the arctic.
In that 36 brand test the arctic MX1 comes above the silver, i thought the general consensus was the other way round? Anyone got anything to confirm this?
Dunno, take that test with a pinch of salt. I did.
I'm not sure - salt would probably increase the electrical conductivity :p

Err, say I forgot to remove the stuff on the Arctic cooler and still added Arctic Silver to the CPU, would that be bad? Might have made another rookie mistake here...
Yes, you'll have too much and it wont work properly...your temps will be too high and you risk the stuff splodging out of the sides and shorting something.
what he said, and they probably work in different ways so mixing them isnt a good idea. lets hope u didnt put too much of that precious arctic on there :PQuote:
