any particular reason for the 8600GTS.. they aren't that great for gaming. Pay an extra £30 odd for an 8800GTS much better card.

Good CPU cooler on the cheap is an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro..very capable and quiet.

The RAM is ok.. The 2gb modules are still filtering through but if thats what you want the stuff is ok.
I'd be looking for tighter timings than that though..perhaps get 2GB (2x1gb) to start with and see how you get on..you wont be needing 8GB anytime soon so it wont hurt to do 4x1GB rather than 2x2gb

Personally i'd get the Samsung h/drive (unless you really need 750 gb !?) and with the money saved get an 8800 series graphics card ! The Arctic freezer pro is an excellent hsf for the money unless you're looking to overclock a fair bit ?
    Remember, you'll need a 64bit O/S to use the 4gb RAM.

You are better off getting an 8800 than an 8600, the extra outlay is easily made up for by better performance.
Get 2 500GB drives, will cost you the same amount and give u 250GB more space.
Those noctua fans are a bit overpriced, im sure you could get some cheaper ones that would give near the same performance.
    That RAM will be fine.

Well no i dont need 750gb so i'll go for the samsung smaller drive. And get the 8800

However all the Arctic freezers seem to be sold out on scan - any other suggestions?

Ram: i was looking for 4gb as i run demanding web servers on the machine while developing / encoding. I'm willing to spend more on the RAM if its the right stuff. Is it better to get 4 x (1gb) or 2 x (2gb)?

    cheers

I bought the EVGA 320mb 8800GTS Superclocked 6 weeks ago and cant praise it enough.

It sails through EVERYTHING maxxed out at 1400x900 and is well worth the extra cash over the 8600's.

I'll stick with my recomendation for the RAM.

Get 2GB of crucial ballistix for about £85 or you can get the Geil Stuff that I use for about £60 at the moment.

See if thats good enough for the time being and then you can wait for the prices to come down a bit on 2x2gb and the timings to come down..or just add another 2x1GB sticks in. I serverly doubt you will want more than 4GB in the next 3 - 5 years.
