How much is my dell worth?

Hi.

just wondering on how much my dell is worth now. paid £800 for it in january 2007.

E6600 2.4ghz c2d cpu
2gb ddr2 memory
2x 160gb sata2 hard disks
dvd rw
nvidia 7900gs graphics card.
crappy mouse, keyboard and speakers that came with it....
MCE and Vista preinstalled in dual boot.
until january 2009 home service and parts cover from dell.
does not include a monitor

Mouse/Keyboard - £20
OS - £80
Case - £60
Warranty - ???

Total: £630 + warranty + dell's profit

Please note dell will probably be making this machine for well below £450 due to economies of scale (buying/doing everything in bulk).

That would be my estimate.

HDD's are worth £30 each if that

the system itself wouldnt be worth much more than £400 to anyone on here. Especially as it can't be overclocked etc..

yep, cpu is the only major part. i am sooo glad i didnt buy when i had the chance in january seeing this.
vista might add some to it i suppose.

they are scamming people who don't really know what they are buying. People just look for the CPU, GPU, HDD capacity and OS. I can't believe enthusiasts would ever buy their own preassembled PC, from this example you don't get what you pay for.

remember this was in january. i bet he did buy it with the monitor for £800, but the prices are right. actually dell sell pcs with their offers really cheap. cheaper than you can probably make one. but as mike said its mostly made of low qual components that you cant upgrade on later on.

kind of, you cant buy the exact parts so you gotta substitute. so in a way they are shoddy, but for the avegerage user they are ok. like the other time there was that £329 Core 2 Duo system with a 19" I think, minus the dell support etc. if you make it yourself you'll spend a few pounds more but that doesnt bother pc builders/enthusiasts.

we have an expensive hobby so a couple quid either way doesn't matter my system would of cost £3200 from dell if I had ordered it the exact same day as I ordered the part separately so I made a very nice saving on some cash.

Without the monitor i'd say around £350-£75 tops.

All those parts have significantly dropped in price since you bought it fella.

I'd imagine the service would be limited to the original owner too, so when you sell it, I'd bet the warranty will be gone too.

yep, the warranty is only for you, i read it in the tnc when i was checking a machine long time ago.
