Linksys router packed up

My WRT54GS's packed up, but I don't know if it is the router itself or the power supply.

Internet connection dropped when I was using it, being the power-user I am I noticed all the LEDs on the front had gone out, so I checked the plug and burned my hand, it was ~65 degrees!

Looks like the power supply is kaput, but I don't know if the router is still OK, I suppose it might be, might not be. It's ~£20 to replace the supply or £40 for a brand new router and supply....what should I do?

Alternatively if anyone has a good recommends for an alternative cheap cable router I'm all ears. Folk always the say the linksys, but I've actually found it to be rubbish - dropped connections, flaky wireless, frequently needing reboot, and now nearly catching fire....

I found the WRT fantastic when loaded with the DD_WRT firmware. Miles better than the work provided Netgear I've got now.

Can you not just buy a cheap adaptor ? e.g.

Tried the official firmware update (also the thibor one) Still not very good performance.

I could get something like that adaptor, or a straight replacement supply for ~£15 plus P+P (found via google) but I don't know if the router is fried as well...

I think I'll get the cheap D-link one off scan. How bad can it be? 99% of the time I'll be using it as a wired router (as a side effect of having unreliable wireless performance with the linksys, I have cat5 cable throughout the house) with wireless switched off so aren't fussed about having WPA 2, or the gimmicky linksys speedbooster 'feature' etc.
