Question for sitalchauhan (sorry Mike), once the 60mm fan kicks in don't the M12 become noisy when compared to the Corsair?
hey, Mi casa es su casa lol
The 120mm fan on the Seasonic uses basically the same fan management system as the Corsair. So they run basically exactly the same when under similar loads. However, when putting under extreme loads and the temps get really high, the 60mm fan kicks in on the M12 to lower the temps as they are getting way too high and could cause problems.
However, in real life I have never seen the 60mm fan on the M12 kick in. It is only under reviews where they put unrealistic loads on the PSU that the fan starts, but you are never really likely to get that high load under real life unless you are doing something completely insane
So yes, when the 60mm fan on the M12 kicks in it does run louder than the Corsair, but this isnt likely to happen in the regular real life system
One word of warning about "silent" graphics cards - I read a review the other day about a Gigabyte card with a big passive heatsink (will do my best to find the link for you) that emmitted such a buzz whilst in 3d mode, it was actually louder than the rivals cards with a fan on it and a far more piercing sound too.

It'll rarely find it's way into 3D mode so it probably won't cause any issues. I was never going to get the fugly gigabyte card anyway..WHAT were they thinking!?
The gainward looks like a quality card but i'm sure if it isn't i'll be ranting on here.
I had the Gigabyte 7600GT passive monstrosity, and apart from getting ridiculously hot just in windows, it took up 3x slots
Found it.
Really worth a full read, i had previously always though silent meant silent....guess i was wrong:

I certainly wouldn't have gone for a passive 8600gt i'd rather have the slightly annoying fan.
If the gainward runs too hot i will get something like this

and mount a fan or mount one by some other means.
