    Freezer 7 Pro

    Another thread - another question.........

I've just installed my freezer 7 pro, and I'm getting temps way above stock, (discounting that I've put it on wrong), could the answer be:

    1. Too much preapplied thermal paste?
    2. Thermal paste needs time to settle?
    3. Dodgy HSF?
    4. The pre applied mx-1 not good enough?

Personally I think it needs time to settle, but I'd like to hear opinions.

No offence did you remove the mobo prior to fitting the Pro?
Did this once to find the same problem. Took the mobo out to find that the pegs/pins had gone through fully. Heatsink felt fine no movement but wasnt fully seated.

I have the same cooler myself with an E6400 OC @ 2.8Ghz (now @ 3.GHz). I had quite high idle temps with my cooler around 45C - measured with CoreTemp.

So I looked at how it was seated it looked fine so I pressed each of the four legs down. One of them couldn't of been seated properly as once I pushed it down the Freezer Pro moved slightly and I heard a click. All others where fine.

Retested with CoreTemp and got better temps ~ 6C drop in idle temps. Been running now for about 2months and the temps have dropped a bit lower since only a few C, about 2-3C at most.

So now idle temps are around 36-37C load is 55C

I am using the pre applied thermal paste that came with it.

Well I had a play with it, the problem was down to human error, so I reseated it and I'm getting a load temp of about 38C
