    Need to find a Socket A barebones PC (can be used)

    Hi all,

    My gf's sister just had a baby and thus her hubby has had to give up his playroom for the wee one's nursery. They don't have a lot of cash to spend but need to downsize their PC. Currently they have an Athlon XP based machine so I was thinking about seeing if I can still get hold of a Shuttle (or similar) barebones that will take their current components and transplant it all into that.

    I've never done a barebones machine before so I've no idea about makes and models but I know of Shuttle etc. Anyone know someone or somewhere that might still have a Socket A thing kicking around? I tried ebay but it didn't come up with anything much, just an AOpen micro-tower type thing, they're really after something like a Shuttle...

    Know it's a long-shot but any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    8bit

    If you're willing to take a bit of a risk, you could try going for this one;

    I experienced the exact same problem on my SK41G, & tried plugging in a normal ATX PSU which solved the problem instantly, so I bought a new Shuttle PSU & the machine has run fine ever since. The early 200Watt Achme supplies had a tendancy for their capacitors to overheat & leak, which causes the wait before it actually powers up.

    That looks like exactly what we need, although that one seems to have gone already and ebay doesn't have any others of that model apart from a complete system. Anyone know of somewhere else I might be able to get hold of one of them?
