It was an Asus P5N32-E SLI. A mate of mine just bought the EVGA new revision, and so far, he has had a dead set of ram, SATA problems and general instability.
Remember that 680i is not proper unlinked memory, it's just more complex memory dividers which isn't always stable and creates FSB holes.
RD600 is the only true unlinked memory clocker due to having two buses.
Just read P5K Deluxe thread Clunk, nice work.
Hmm, only thing putting me off is having to mod some proper mosfet cooling although I won't be running quad.
Quads to me are a waste of time. Dual core is more than enough and can clock higher due to the insane heat kicked out by Q's. Although I obviously don't do as much CPU thread intensive comuting as others who own quads.
hmmm, now i'm thinking p5k deluxe!
It doesn't appear that the p5k has any unhappy customers?
clunk hows the stock cooling on the p5k, i checked your thread and you fitted different heatsinks,
To be honest, the mosfet/NB/SB cooling on the P5K deluxe isnt bad for an Asus board. Most of them sat flat, so no real reason to change unless you plan some high voltage quad coreyness.
Too early to tell really. Build quality is definately improved, and the only real problem is with RAID, and that should be a bios away hopefully. I havent found anything too irritating yet, and I wasnt expecting too much after the last few asus boards.
I didnt even try the stock cooling, it looks ok though...see above.
Complications with raid? I was going to use raid, whats the trouble and what did you do to bypass the prob?
I'm not 100% sure, have a google. I dont use raid myself, so cant comment really.
nothing a good bios update wont fix :p (raid problems)
i think im going to delay my build until july (when the c2d prices drop) and the new x38 boards comes out (may have support for both sli and crossfire + drr2 and dd3 :surprised: )
thanks for your help so far guys especially clunk :)
You're welcome :D
