    Overclocking MOBO, which one?

    Advice required please.

Requirements: New MOBO for overclocking E4300 (maybe E6320) On AIR only.

Priority:£35-£60 (may go £10 higher if worth it), Good components, easy to OC well, reliable.

Will be using 1 or 2 maxiumum sata HDD's.

Bonus (But not greatly important): Good support, future proof ie; quad core, 1066mhz(?)

I dont need anything fancy, no wifi, no onboard gfx, no 8 channel sound, no need for 8 sata sockets, etc.etc.
(might be better posting in Clunk's OC thread?)

Your opinions and advice are welcome in this time of need

How much can you find a Gigabyte DS3 for now? They are very good 965 based motherboards that clock well, think they were 70ish pounds on a few sites. Long time since I've checked though.

I take it the 965 is better than the 945 chipset, as I can find both googling?

Abit AB9's had a lot of issues which could not be sorted out with bios' alone, like the JMicron SATA controller.

The QuadGT was released with a lot of issues fixed and has matured a lot to be one of the best conroe boards you can get IMO.

Problem is, it's out of his price range at 90+ pounds

Ok, still looking for peoples opinions on which mobo, P5B, DS3 an any other, Abit, MSI..?

Its the final piece of my new build, so keen to get this sorted.

I guess if it extremely futureproof and solid quality, I would pay a little more.

    btw, welcome to hexus mekerz

I would say one of the P5B boards, but for what you are asking (high fsb board at a cheap price), I think you might be better off getting a used, but higher spec model.

If you havent already bought the E6320, get an E4300/E4400 instead.

Nope, you're just asking an almost impossible question

If you want a good clocking board, you'll have to pay for it - simple as that im afraid.

DS3 will probably be a best fit if cost is a priority, but google and read opinions of it first - there are many different experiences with it (some good, some bad).

AB9 boards are great when running, but are fussy with components.

The ASUS offerings are fairly good, but have been suffering serious quality issues (just ask Clink ). Very hit and miss.

The best (IMO) overclocking, stable and hassle free board IMO is the QuadGT, by far.
You could look at its successor the IP35, which is a bit cheaper and comes out any time now.

I've recently bought ds3p ver 3.3 for £76, geil 2X1gb 6400 ram £65, E4300 £65 all inc vat and delivery........no complaints with the board so far, IMO it is a V.good cheap combo and easily OCs the E4300 to say 2.8ghz.

I set out what I did and didnt want in me OP, no frills, bells and whistle type job, jsut a solid OCing board...

..ok, slight change of plan, it hasnt gotta be ultra futureproof, just a bit of head room for expansion.

    impossible to answer...? bah

I've searched, but have very limited knowledge on 775 MOBO's I'm afraid

EDIT: Ok, had a look and seems good.

I think I need to be looking for a 965 chipset board, overall then?

You might want to have a look at this

    http://www2.abit.com.tw/page/uk/moth...&fMTYPE=LGA775

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=124961

it will give a good overclock as it is stripped down version of the AB9 series. No raid one PCI-e slot, it avoids the JMicron issues with 2 IDE ITE8211F slots.

However note you will need to flash the bios to 1.2, it will boot but have a look here for further info
    http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.p...&highlight=IB9

But it fits into your price bracket and support wise you couldnt ask for better here on Hexus or on the Abit USA forums. Abit also have a UK office and AbitSean provides very helpful support here at Hexus.
Do your research on the board obviously and if it suits its a steal at the price

Or if you need Raid and 6 sata rather than 4 on the IB9 then for £70 from Scan
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=433275
