    Notebook without screen?

Moving into smaller hall next year so I couldn't afford to keep a few desktops anymore :S

But I can't part with my Dual 20" LCD.

Are there any company making whitebook without screen?

Don't need the notebook monitor, it blocks my view to my large screen, but then I couldn't type when I close the screen

    Cheers
    Arthur

Just change the lid policy on the laptop and then plug in the external monitor

    ..buy a usb keyboard..

    Job Done..

Surely a screen would actually prove useful at some point.

not many laptops have dual outputs either..

I think the 17" Dells and a few other big ones probably do.

Have you considered building a uATX system or something. That won't take up much space..will be a lot cheaper and will be upgradeable..

Or try and find a laptop on ebay or in a clearance with a faulty screen. Would be dirt cheap i would imagine cos who wants a laptop without a screen? (apart from you obviously).

Well, I'm planning to use the laptop for video encoding / folding, so it doesn't even need a decent GPU.

I'm quite happy that my C2D laptop draws about 41W max load (T7200), for uATX the motherboard is not any cheaper than a whitebook (certainly not as thin).

Not to mention the need to buy a case, a PSU and a decent cooler. Those add up to the cost of a LCD monitor.

As Mike said a screen would be useful but I already got 2!

I think I'll wait until my current laptop's LCD breaks again then I'll just remove the screen.

Well you could build a really nice uATX for about £300 which would utilise both screens and use next to nothing power wise. Probably a bit more than laptop but nothing major.

If you're happy with the laptop you have though what more is there to say...

I still think closing the lid and using a keyboard is good idea too lol

Dual screens is going to be the issue from a laptop aye. There are PCMCIA/USB graphics cards or the matrox dual head, but at a price.

Slim barebones would be another option, Asus do a few nice ones.
