Did I somehow kill my memory? :/

I took the cooler off my E4300 earlier to redo the thermal paste (and took the CPU out to clean it better), put it all back together and was greeted with.. nothing but fans spinning and a black screen. Cleared the BIOS and it booted but was only showing half the memory. Swapped the sticks about and one of them's now dead. Total coincidence? It's the second time in a month that a stick's suddenly died for no apparent reason, despite previously passing runs with Memtest and Orthos without a hitch

Hey hashassin. I'd been having similar issues as in your other thread - it pointed to the memory but the memory passed memtest. I'd lost a few hard drives though. I've already replaced my PSU, but I'm looking to replace my motherboard too. Not sure where the specific issue is but all I can is change bit by bit until there are no possible causes left.

Don't know if it's related but I started getting lock ups in Far Cry yesterday, with the audio going into an infinite loop. Maybe a sign something was on the way out.. still weird it's happened twice with two different brands of ram.

Could be the board overvolting the ram. I know 680 boards do it, but wasnt aware of 650 doing it as well.

Could also be a duff PSU as well.

The BIOS reports 1.79V for the memory I think.. don't know how accurate that is. I guess if another one goes it's almost certainly something killing them.
