New desk - Avebury glass from Argos / Homebase

    Before and after pictures below.

Slight improvement I think you'll agree. This desk is really good (as it should be for £80), but it's easy to put together, solid, and looks great in my opinion. I can thoroughly recommend it if you're thinking about a new desk.

looks nice, but i personally really hate glass as a surface to work on, its too cold, brittle and breakable imo.

But yeh it looks really cool though

Your monitor and speakers look like they are floating above the desk too lol

Hmmm sort of...wood is far more susceptible to liquid spills (lifting) and denting, and to break this sheet of glass you'd have to be some kind of idiot.

But I know what you mean about the cold thing though.

Looks good, I'm getting the same desk next week - but the wood-topped one, mainly because it might be a bit too wide for here, the wood one I can chop one end a bit to make it fit.

Can you tell me, how far on each side does the wood (or glass, in your case) go after the legs end - if I do need to chop some off, thats what would be getting the chop!

I have the same one..was erm, interesting to build, got the front and back mixed up and wrong way round and it looked impossible, but sorted in the end, and very pleased with it, only thing is, that lazer/optical mice wont work without a mat.

Here is the link on Argos - Clicky

Search for 'Avebury Computer Desk' and you will find the different finish and the glass one which is a slightly different layout.

    Click

It's 150cm x 70cm deep x 73cm tall. Homebase were doing 10% off so I just ordered it through them.

PS - Fosters doesn't come near seize cent soixante quatre for taste!

never understood the point of having suround sound speakers then placing them less than a meter apart.
    It is Inevitable.....

Not sure how that's relevant; they're 150cm apart. I'm also aware of the benefit of driver separation, but unfortunately with £30 5.1 speakers, the cables aren't that long.

What I want to know is all that effort to get a stylish desk with cunningly designed speaker and monitor mounts and you choose those stripped curtains??

You just fell at the last hurdle didn't you!
