    upside down mobo and cooling

    hi,

i am on the verge of buying a silverstone temjin tj06 case from someone off a forum for about half its original price. i am very interested and am aware i will need psu extensions.

my only question is this - will it make a negative difference to the mobo if it was mounted upside down - its just that the silverstone website says its a bad idea to use heatpipe mobos in that case; just wondering what people think.

my plan is to add the 120mm fan below the psu after i dust out the old dremel, and be happy knowing i can store 3-4 hdd up there + one beneath floppy. its a big case and just what i was looking for.

i just dont want to move backwards compared to my chieftec dragon fulltower.

Heatpipes will only fail to function correctly if they rely on gravity to return the fluid medium inside of them back to the hot end.

I believe Asus favour the type of heatpipe that relies on gravity, whereas aBit seem to prefer ones with capilliaries in them to return the fluid and work fine inverted,

Don't know for sure, or at all for that sake, but I have a hard time believing that anyone uses non-capillary heat pipes anymore. After all manufacturers must be aware of inverted cases and such and having your elaborately designed cooling system potentially totally negated by using ancient-style heat pipes would be........a bit silly.

    Then again, who knows.

Yup that's the important thing, stick to manufacturers who admit their boards will or won't run inverted. Hence why I discounted Asus as they refuse to say
