One thing it could well be is a cheap-ass power surge protector.

If he's overloaded it the damn thing'll trip and then reset, causing the reboot.

I bet you he's running everything from one surge protector, probably with a 3 socket adaptor or similar plugged into that too.

Speaking of idiotic customers, I just had 2 within 5 minutes of each other:

1st one: "I can't get Ebay to register my e-mail"

OK... is it not sending you the confirmation e-mail?

    "It's not registering it"

Sorry? Do you mean it won't accept the address when you register?

"It's not registering the E-mail address!"

Is it giving you an error message or....?

    "IT WON'T REGISTER IT!"

I'm sorry, I really don't know what you mean...

"OH FOR F***S SAKE! I'LL SORT IT MY F***ING SELF!"

    *blink*

    2nd one:

    "Do you build PC's"

    Yes, we do.

"What better, Panthion or IND CPU's?"

Well, probably the Core 2 Duo Intel chips are the best on the market.

    "How much are they?"

    Well, from about £90 roughly.

"Where's the cheapest place that sells them?"

Errr (cheeky rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish)... you'd probably be best to search some of the online retailers...

    "Do you have any addresses?"

Errr (majorly cheeky rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish) not to hand, no.

"If I buy all the parts and bring them to you, will you build it for free?"

    Errr (EXCEPTIONALLY cheeky rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish) no.

"Pffft, waste of time then aren't you?"

    *blink* *blink*

Get him to take a digi photo of the error or a vid of it happening.

Also I like the customer stories.

Not wanting to sound rude, but if he blanked the system without trying to find out the cause of any potential problems, its not really fair to call people who buy off you "idiotic customers".

Checking event viewer is the first thing that should be done to try and check for issues. This is college level stuff.

sorry....but he's right. Not exactly HEXUS.net this thread.

If you're tech support....then perhaps you should support your clients. We understand te comedy value, we really do...bt I get the vibe that you need HEXUS forums help to solve this, and I'm not sure that's 100% right as you're being paid for it.

Maybe I'm wrong...what do people think? Am I being too Adolf on that thought?

I mean...guys like Agent know what to do, and they're not being paid to support this client.

To be fair, if customer's weren't "idiotic" (as the label is going), they wouldn't need the services of some of the people here - they would do it themselves. As Zak's said, these people fund your living.

No matter the size of the problem, we've probably all been culprits ourselves on the same level in someone else's profession. It's like throwing water onto a fire only later to know you were meant to use powder.

Sometimes they are funny, but the constant labelling gets on a bit.....

No, you're spot on. A thread titled "Seriously, what more can I do?" with a list of things that have been tried and asking for suggestions doesn't leave much to the imagination.

Customer service isn't always about giving the customer what they want, its the way that you deliver the service.
They want a friendly face, and you must be able to take the people who are utter jockeys, calm them down, find out the problem and provide a solution in their language.

Regardless of if the machine is at faulty, the customer has an issue. You need to be able to sort it in a professional manor.

Considering you are not actually sure if there is a fault with the machine or if its the customer doing something wrong, you're already at a loss.

No sorry I disagree, this is the general discussion forum. I'm quite happy to laugh at whatever is in here. I don't take any how can i fix this comments in here seriously and view them as very tounge in cheek.

If we can't make the distinction between this forum being a laugh and the other forums being serious then i think its a fairly poor show.

Respect both you and agent but definitely disagree this time.

I should point out the PC was wiped on the customers request. He didn't do it off his own back, they guy asked him to. Thing was I'd asked him not to until I was reasonably sure there were not hardware issues.

its probably just background software running that is causing conflict or drivers ,have you tried MSCONFIG and troubleshooting from there ?
