There is tongue in cheek TiG, then there is a list of tried solutions, questions on how the situation should be handled and then in the same thread calling people who pay your wages "idiotic". Thats a bit more than tongue in cheek IMO.

If the thread had been posted about funny comments that customers had made / done then that's a different matter, but this just smacks of "I dont know what to do now, TEH INTERWEB WILL TELL ME!"

So going on what you've said, there are four possible solutions...

    1) There is a hardware fault you cannot replicate
    2) There is a conflict with a device that the customer is using at home
    3) Software the customer is installing has caused issues
    4) He wants his PC wiped off but is scared to do it himself

Now you just need to find which one it is. Talk to the guy, get more information than it "freezes".
When does it freeze? What is he doing when it does? When did it start? What has he installed in the 6 months hes had it?....the list goes on

Its a balancing act tho, hexus always self regulates itself, i mean just check the threads that Tel_tech's started, i find them very amusing, i mean midway through this thread (top of page 2 for me - there is another standard Tel_tech wow how stupid are customers)

There has been a fair amount of handbags recently where we just get people shouting people down. Its just not worth it, and i'd like to re-iterate, this is General discussion, if there is one place that we shouldn't give hardware/software advice its here.

If people genuinely want help and support they should be moved to the appropriate forum, but this doesn't feel like an asking for help thread. In my opinion its just another way for Tel_tech to amuse people.

Rightly or wrongly is not my decision to make, but my understanding for GD is that its for our little fun comments jokes and as its here i'm viewing it as a laugh and nothing more.

I'd make the same point to ikonia that GD isn't a place for coming back with "do you actually post anything thats not a story about a customer being stupid ?"

this is GD, this is exactly the point. Trolling isn't something that is well recieved and i'm really getting fed up with comments like this by a fair few people.

To highlight, either this thread should have been moved and dealt with as a genuine help request, or we should laugh at Tel_Tech and his customers (or lack of them)

I'm not trolling and I'm a little dissapointed that you find my comment "troll like". I'm not saying jokes and stories are not appropriate for general discussion, I am passing comment that every thread I read from this guy is a story about a customer being stupid, you find it funny, I find it a bit tedious and I was asking in a round about way to you contribute in any other way than to tell us stories about your stupid customers.

This thread however appears to be

"I run a business and don't know what to do please help" and I'm with a few of the others, this isn't a support request or really a general discussion this is a help question along basic customer care/dealing with technology for a business, that would be more apporiate being fielded to the guys boss "how do I deal with this customer" - my opinion.
    It is Inevitable.....

Yet up until post 21 where we start to get funny stories about 'idiotic' customers, every single post was of a technical nature.

The first 3 posts from Tel_Tech here were all about troubleshooting the issue, and the first 21 helping him do it. How can that not possible be a request for help?

But anyway, enough said now. If its that wrong to point these things out, ill stay out of here

Sounds like i'm the one on my high horse. Ikonia sorry your comment was a bit abrupt thats all. My comment is exactly what i'm suggesting we all try and avoid on here. apologies for that.

Agent, i'm not saying its wrong to point this out at all. I'm just confused how this thread didn't get moved to hardstuff.

or he want's the pc wiped because there's something dirty on there each time ...

I remember the days of trying to calm customers down, though it was sometimes fun to watch my mentor/boss juimp up and down on a power brick that had 3 or 4 multi-plugs in it that were powering the router, a server, several other pc's, some phone equipment and a radio etc etc. It was great. He was jumping up and down on it saying to the customer "see, look at it. keeps going on and off. Sort out your power and if you still have problems call us back" He wasn't very patient - half my job was stopping him and customers getting into fights. Good cop bad cop actually works really well with customers "who won't be told" as by the time they're done screaming at the bad cop they're more than ready to listen to the good cop. Still that was never going to be a permanent job

Number 2 would cover that though really
A plug / power would come under a needed device in my book - although the wording could be better to encompass it I guess

Would a mod please lock this thread as I feel a certain amount of angst is breeding.

It was posted to express frustration on my part, not to ask for help or amuse people.

I do appreciate the feedback that has been put forward, more-so than the more critical comments. Pretty much every suggestion that was raised has been tried, including event viewer. You have to recall that the gentleman in question has been in twice before with the same issues and, while not as long winded, many of the same checks and suggestions were raised then. I may be a git, but I do take my job seriously.

Once again, it was a thread meant to express banging my head against a wall, rather than seek help.

If a mod could lock the thread I would appreciate it.

    *nods*

For what it's worth, I do appreciate amusing/frustrating/happy/whatever tales of your experience dealing with customers, but feel you could be a bit clearer about it not being a request for advice - you had rather too many question marks in your original post for it to be clear, and my tongue in cheek post about tel_tech@hexus on the first page was meant to be a good opportunity for you to clarify
