    New Build Not Working!

    Hey,

So I have just put together my PC. I think I did it all right, and when I connect the power the LEDs on the motherboard come on as they should. I start up the PC, and all fans and drives kick in. All good.

However nothing is displayed on my monitor, it just says no signal. The gfx card is powered, the fan is running. I have tried switching my monitor input from DSub to DVI, but nothing works.

I am going to go try on another monitor now, but can you guys think of anything else it could be? Could I have got a lemon for a GPU or did I break something on installation?

    Thanks

I know I probably helped you pick it but could you stick up your specs.

Also try running 1 stick of RAM just to humour me

    Re: New Build Not Working!

Yeah my first guesses will be,

Dodgy RAM or not enough voltage for both sticks try one stick as Mike suggests if it posts change the ddr2 voltage to whatever your memory says on the stickers, turn off PC, replace second stick, turn on.

    or

Motherboard BIOS doesn't recognise the CPU ID, which unless you happen to have another CPU it does recognise so you can flash the BIOS is going to be a real pain in the...

    Re: New Build Not Working!

Doesnt post with one stick of DDR. I don't have another chip no, so I cant get into the BIOS to flash it, or even see the BIOS lol. coo

If I have somehow not correctly installed the CPU, would it even power up? Or would I just here the motherboard beep?

Looks like I am making a trip to scan tmrw :/

Have you tried the other stick of RAM on its own?

And then try a different slot

    Re: New Build Not Working!

Ok people, as usual, it is human error!

I have solved the non posting error. The CPU power connector was not properly seated

In my defence, the HSF is so large that I cant see the connector from the top.

Now it posts, but I get a CPU error on post. Have I fried the CPU by booting without the power cable connected?

    I really hope not

Edit: I have changed the boot order to boot from Vista DVD and it seems to be ok.loading vista now, so surely the CPU is fine?

    Fingers crossed!

    Re: New Build Not Working!

What does the CPU error say?

I shouldn't think you have fried it by not having the connector in properly.

    Re: New Build Not Working!

As I say, it seems to be going through a Vista install, so all may well be ok!

    Cheers Mike.

Sorry I spammed up the board with a pointless thread lol. As I say though, I could not see the connector at all!

    Thanks for the help anyway!

    Re: New Build Not Working!

lol. It is a nice HS, I have to say. Although I almost died when I saw it lol. It covers about 50% of my board, and completely covers one stick of my RAM! Still, it will keep it all nice and cold for the overclock!

Also, I am on 25 posts now, so I am gonna thank you and webby!
