does athlon 645bit motherboards support 32bit CPU's, like my athlon Xp 2600+

stupid i know, because i want to get a mobo now and 64bit cpu later

No, the A64 chips and the Athlon XP chips have a different number of pins so mobo's can take either one or the other... not both. Plus I would of thought that the architecture and the chipsets were not compatible with eachother either.

i doubt he would have forced it after noticing that the cpu doesnt even stretch across the motherboard slot :S

If you want 64 bit on a budget then 3000+ could be the answer, not the cheapest combo around but certainly fast for the £££, other than that a 32bit NF7 V2.0 and a 2500 could be the answer, TBH 64bit isnt needed for the adverage Joe right now

You need the new windows xp to run it at 64bit so get on those pirate sites cerjan

Not really Dav3, Windows is not the only 64bit OS. SUSE 8 or 9 is 64bit compatable.
Tho its not really a problem as the AMD chips are still fast as hell in 32bit mode.
