Got two sammy sp2504 here as well,fast and quiet
yea, i had my old hd's in here and was wondering if i should raid etc but they are ide and it adds too much cabling into the case. anyway these sp2504c's have a faster transfer rate which is nice. i was getting 70mb/s average read.
Why not just RAID two 250GB drives for better performance and then use a small external for backup?

plus it will cost a bit more.
im jus a poor student ..lol
If you want a very fast Apps drive separate to your back-ups:

I like it alot
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
That's the one you pay extra money to have the insides on display. Not a very scientific choice...
We are all aware of the fact that the Raptor knocks a second or two off loading times, but it costs more than twice as much as either of the solutions being looked at here on its own. By the time you add the extra real estate it's more than three times the cost. And the backup potential is very limited too.
