Question New SFF PC Builder/HELP NEEDED.

I have just moved into a new bedsit ,which is to be my home for the next 12 mounths, there is not a lot of room ,so i want to build a new pc using A SFF Case,i want the pc to be an all sing all dancing machine and the monitour to double as a television screen, and be able to record TV to hard drive and then burn to DVD,and be good for music play back, plus good in the gaming stakes,Iwant the Quietest and best hardware that money can buy and a good 17" TFT monitour,I have got a Nebula DigiTV card that i can use for TV recieving, its the rest i need help choosing as i have never built a SFF PC before,so which would be the best barebones pc to go for and the best hardware to use ??.
My budget is £2000 pounds ,give or take £100 eachway.
Any help and ideas would be great.

    Thanks

Hmm, SN85G w/ A64 3000+. The 60mm fan in it can be modded for something quieter than the 40mm mod alternatives in the other shuttles.

17" TFT, personally i (and many others) love the LG 1710b but others will no doubt disagree and recommend what they use.

Couple of huge SATA harddisks and a DVDRW drive and you're sorted.
I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!

Then, replace the normal fan with this
    From Ultim8pc.co.uk
    http://www.ultim8pc.co.uk/index.asp?...products&idd=4
Its 3rd item down, the S4 80mm DC Fan. I had one in my shuttle and it was very quiet and moves alot more air than the normal one!

Many would disagree, but lets not go there. All i can add is shop around and talk to a few more people than Craig and myself.

Its not so much the sunon fan, they can be easily replaced - its the psu fan that's the problem.

The SN85G4's PSU is the SilentX one, you will not need to replace the fans, but i do agree to shop around

Nope... the SilentX PSU isnt compatible with the SN85G4 (not sure why though).

The SN85G4 and the ST61G4 both use different PSUs.

Dabs have the 3200+ for £214 incl VAT. The cheapest place I could find for the SN85G4 was Ebuyer, iirc it was around £30 cheaper than OcUK.

Hugh's right -- the XP3000+ is a much better value processor than the 3200.

Also: hey, Hugh! How's tricks, feller? It's Richard from Cardiff. Goddamn Hexus forums has deleted my post history, so I look like a n00b.

Heehee, I actually go to Uni in Cardiff though, so the other way around to you! I used to teach 5lab, and a very thankless task it was too.
