Mixing memory densities
Hi,
just wondering is this done? I mean I'll be going 64bit at christmas, when I hope I'll get some nice upgrades like possibly quad core. I've got 2gb ram atm, and was thinking of upgrading to 6gb, through 2x2gb dimms. Yoyotech have the exact same memory as mine (OCZ Gold PC6400) except in 2gb sticks.
My question is: what's the likely performance hit of mixing modules with the same latency / speed etc. but different densities? Obviously there would be 2x1gb in one channel and 2x2gb in the other.
Then I just need to figure out some way to use all that memory

It's fine :) As long as your motherboard is happy with high density.

Ace. In a few weeks my motherboard will be the abit ip35 pro which does support 2gb dimms so I should be fine.
