My rule of thumb is to use a fan/cooler on RAM that runs over 2.0v/2.1v, or if you are using 4x sticks.
I have corsair Dominator 9136 2X1Gb. It's running on 2,1v and placed 2 80mm fans right next to it.
so i think if i put 2.3 or 2.4 v throught it, will it be ok? this dominator heats up to 25C while playing STALKER... Without fan it heats up tu 30C. In default ram chips doesn't go with fans.

What you measurung it with??
I have a sensor on mine Crucial Ballistix 8500 running @1200 with 2.25v i get 29C idle & 37~38C load. thats with a corsair memory cooler & a 120mm side panel fan(intake).

The device is called Raynger ST2L. Goolgle it.. but it measures dominator(pasive cooller) temperature. I guess chips are a little hotter.. Also have a side pannel 240mm. But like Clunk said if fan isn't close to memory chips it doesn't lower temperatures.
By the way these two 80mm case fans should do better then corsair dominator fan. and costs much lower... Thank's for the temperatures, Supershanks!
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
Well, ordered Q6600 and P5K-E (and other components) yesterday, so hopefully I will be able to use this guide soon :)
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
Guess you won't be using that permanently:lol:
I'm using a thermal sensor lead that fits onto a fan controller, a tad smaller:D
Depends how high my 120mm is running. On low it intakes colder air directly over the path of the ram & dominator cooler, so warm air is blown away from memory.
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
Anyone know a program that I can measure the Pwms on this board? And perhaps the Nb? :help:
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
I dont think there are sensors for them, or at least if there are, I havent found anything that reads them.
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
Owk, I was reading the Quad core thread and thought I saw somethings about measuring the Mosfets or similar.
Was thinking of gettin myself a Q6600 and clocking it with air, but I want to know (estimate) how far i cud get with air and what is the weak point on the board when clocking a Quad? Im clocking a E6850 at 3.6Ghz now with a AC7 Pro and load temps are 60C (Cpu), with bout 42C on the board.
If I could get a Q6600 at 3Ghz or maybe slightly higher that would be ideal, I wud be using a TR 120-Extreme to cool it. Annndd then i will rule at Folding muahaha:mrgreen:
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
Clunk I cant remember cos it was awhile back, but did the HR-09's fit on the P5K, or was it with the P5B that you needed the clamp?

Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
Does anyone knows why temperatures on cores differes for about 5-6C?
Under 100%load after 2 hours of prime testing coretemp shows 61,61,67,67.
Maybe a cooler isn't placed well or it's about different load on cores - the hottest ones are loaded more?
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
Its normal :)
If you have a cooler with screw/bolt fixings, you can get them more even. Click the Quad core thread on my sig and look at the first post :)

Ok, thanks, Clunk!
By the way i don't know if you where talking about it. It's transaction booster. It really encreases RAM spead. I enabled it and set ratio to 0 and memory reading spead was 8900mb\s. But with ratio = 1 it raised for about 300mb\s. As well as disabeld and ratio = 3 settings lowered readings to 7000mb\s (but i guess stability was encreased). May be it'll help some one..
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
See this post :)
Swings and roundabouts I reckon.
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide For Beginners P5K Add-On
it's been discussed in the P5K Deluxe Wifi AP Thread
this iarticle is also useful on Asus P5K Deluxe Mainboard: Second Encounter
Transaction booster @1 works for me on my E6600 with bios 0311(but not on later bios which are faster), but i don't think i've seen any quads working with it.
It is a decent tweak if you can get away with it:lol:
luck:)

well prime is working for an hour fsb = 370, dram = 1184mhz(corsair 9136). thanks for the links!
