Yup ram settings and voltage are set as manufacturer's guidelines (2.2V and 4-4-4-12).

All other settings EXACTLY as the guide says. Followed it word for word

I am still very happy with this slightly lower overclock as my benchmarks hardly changed, only dropped a little amount. It is still a massive improvement over the stock settings

    Yes, its according to spec:

    Question

Both Asus and third-party utilities such as PcProbII/AISuite/CPUZ shows that my CPU Vcore reading drops as the CPU load goes up.
This also happens after I set CPU Vcore to a set value instead of the preset [AUTO]. Why does the motherboard act like this?
Will this effect the overall stability of my system?

    Answer

As Intel specification clearly states Vcc (CPU Vcore) should drop in propotonal to the increase of Icc (CPU current consumption), in order to prevent causing permanent damage to your CPU. When CPU is under stress (in other words, under higher load), the current consumption of the CPU will go up, and the CPU Vcore will then drop to conpensate this change. This is a perfectly normal behaviour, and will not effect the overall stability of your system.

For more information, please refer to Intel CPU datashee, under "DC Voltage and Current Specification".

Under load it drops quite a bit leading to instability.

You should be able to print it from here...Go to the top right of this thread, and click on thread tools, and then a box will drop down, and you just click on the printable version.

if it doesnt work, let me know

Hi Clunk, just a quick question for you, I have this mobo with 404 bios, & C2D E6750, and I am able to boot up @ 3.6ghz (450x8) however I can't never success on running orthos for more than 1 hour. I already bumped up the voltage to 1.5v and my ram voltage to 2.3 and the ram is rated @ 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V (PC2-6400)...I followed your guides closely and is there any additonal settings that I should focus on? besides running orthos, I can play games, watch movies, ripping dvd without any issues, but I still want to make sure my machine is 100% stable, and I also want to know what's the max voltage that this chip can take on? I don't want to screw my chip within a month..

Ok, first of all, 3.6Ghz, is around the top end of what most people end up using as their 24/7 overclock.

It looks as if your CPU is approaching it's limit.

Are you running the RAM 1:1? If so, the RAM is running at 900Mhz, which is outside of what it is supposed to run at. I'm not sure what RAM it is, but not all will overclock well, and it could well be that you are at the limit of that too.

As always, there is no safe voltage, just keep an eye on the temps. If you need much more than what you are already using, its not going to be worth the tradeoff in heat generated for 24/7 use.

Clunk, the ram that I am using is Buffalo Firestix FSX800D2C-K2G 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 rated @ 5-5-5-15. I just serach online and this ram should be easily achrive 900mhz easily..Regards about the limit, I know that's pretty much the max limit for this chip unless I push it further, and the temperature from o/c chip is like 43c @ 100% (use Ezotech with 120MM fan), is that normal? I am running my C2D in vista, and i used at least 3 programs to monitor the temp, TAT, Speedfan & Asus Probe..Is that temp too low??

PS: My ram is running 1:1

Yes, that temp seems very low for that voltage. Dont forget that speedfan often reads 15c UNDER, and Asus probe is pretty much useless for CPU temps.

You may only be able to squeeze a tiny bit more out of the CPU, but it might need a lot of voltage, so why not drop the fsb a bit, get some reasonable voltage going, and then tweak the RAM?

I have a p5k deluxe with a cnps9500 at and a quad6600. My question is why is that my temp are so hot like each core is around 46 at idle. Also, i use arctic silver 5. Do i wait for it to settle down? i want it to be cool enough so i can start my overclock.I'm also new to this forum.

Clunk..I can't push further no matter how hard that I tried. Now I am 100% stable running my CPU @ 3.6ghz but the ram timings I can lower to 4-4-4-12 @ 450mhz (2.3V)..the Chip just can't go further, as you said the temp is little bit low, and I think even you add another 15 degrees on it, my temp is still under 65, so I think that will be fine..

    Hi

I need some help with over clocking my new system, specs below:

    Intel Dual Core E6850 + Scythe Ninja | Asus P5K Vanilla | 2GB Kingston HyperX ddr2 1066 | Sparkle 320mb 8800GTS | Antec Solo + Antec 550W

So far my best attempt is 420*9 (3780MHz) 1:1 ratio
    Divider was set to 1:1
timings set manually 5-5-5-15 (as per the ram vendor specs)

now i'm trying to see how far fast I can run my RAM so I can possibly run a lower multi (8x) and 1:1 with my ram at decent speed.

My biggest issue at the moment is the ram, I’ve set the multiplier to 6 manually and the ram will not go over 900mhz at 2.3v. It’s rated for 1066@2.2v ???

any ideas - it’s been a while since I looked at this sort of stuff and I’m not used to the bios on this board. Should I look at the Northbridge voltage?

I tried all the settings you recommended in Step One but still cannot get this board/mem stable with anything above fsb450. And by the way at 450 its 2hrs+ otheros blend stable but at 455 it doesn't last 30 seconds

You havent said what cooling, or even what your load temps are.

Post some more details and we will try and help
