Damn Ram !

Im sick of this RAM i bought with my new K7N2 Delta-ILSR. As i said before its Corsair value Select, and apparenty Corsair have said that their ram doesn't 'work that well' with the MSI Nforce 2 board.
In other words you get bombarded with beeping 50% of the time you power it on, seems to happen particularly when you save to CMOS. Anyway, i have tried running just one stick, that seems to stop it happening a bit, but it still happens, and anyway, i want dual channel, and both sticks .
To rub it in, i just looked at the chips on the Sticks and they are Samsung ! Corsair and samsung must be two of the 2 top makes, and I can't have decent RAM .

Anyway, rant off , anyone got any suggestions ? Anytihng before i finnaly try and get rid of it and get my self some new stuff.

At the moment the Ram is definitely fine, ran memtest, as i said i have tried single sticks, i have swapped em around, i have changed ram timings (not excessively, dont like screwing with things, but it didnt seemt to help) Anyone got any more ideas ?
I was going to try and just live with the beeps, its not terrible have to reboot a few times when i first power ont he computer, but i have been getting a few BSODS from it, and one just plain freeze. They are Single sided sticks if that helps.

Flog it, mention the problems, and recomend MSI Nforce2 board owners need not apply.

Get some decent price for them, go get some crucial... sorted.

Get your BIOS updated.
It also effected the NF7 series of mobo's, but Abit sorted it out with a BIOS update
Hopfully MSI have aswell

yes, as i said above , but what RAM timing is most likely to help ? Is it just raising all the numbers ? So it basicly hasn't got as much of a demand on it ? Or is it just that particular timing settings may cause freak problems between certain Ram and boards ? But, yes i have tried this, i cant really think of anything else to do, im gonna try and borrow a stick of generic PC-2100 and see if i get the same prob with that (just to make the mobo is ok), but i have tried everything i can think of.

doh, missed that. Sorry. Ditch either the sticks or the board. Sticks are worth more than the boar, so rma that if you can imho.

I'm not a big fan of MSI. They very rarely produce anything worth an enthusiasts 2nd glance.

this will probably sound stupid, but even though i have used it before my self, i dont know what RMA stand for, anyone ? And do you think www.scan.co.uk will charge a restocking fee ? And also whats imho stand for ? Never seen it before i came to these forums

oh and the 2 sticks of RAM only came to just under £64 actualy, and the mobo was £88

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization

It's the number that must be on the outside of boxes being returned to indicate that the manufacturer or retailer has agreed to take the item back.

Items sent w/o this number are generally refused as anything the company takes back they have "some" liability to actually return. It's easier to just reject packages with no RMA #

Imho has been used for that long on the net that its become a word in its own right. Imo just looks wrong and cant be used as flexibally - see my use of imho above doesnt quite match the meaning of 'in my humble opinion' in the context of the sentence. Most usent posters generally come across arrogantly when using imo instead. Usually deliberately. But you dont have to be humble when using imho, uriah heap style either. Its one of my favorite net words and I long for the day I can speak it verbally.
