    X1900xt GX815 installed..no difference???

    Hi all

Just installed the gamer edition GX815 after market cooler for the X1900XT.
I read lots of reviews and they all said that temps would be reduced massively..average of 60 degrees full load etc.
Trouble is i have installed..and reinstalled and the temps are near enough exactly the same as the stock cooler..tried reapplying the thermal grease and reinstalling the fan to no avail.

    Anything I might have missed?

tbh I've never heard of this cooler before.
I guess it depends on what case you have and the airflow within.

Depends on what compund is used, but most I think need some time to set in.

For example, I changed my CPU HSF to an AC 64pro and initally the temps were higher or same as what I was using before (ThermalTake). The changes were only noticable after a week (daily usage) now the temps are a few degrees lower.

    hi again Mithrandir

yep thats true enough..i'm using the supplied thermal paste that all the reviewers used to good effect.
Reapplied it twice with varying amounts..no change.
Will leave it on now and wait to see if it settles lower, while I attempt other things to rectify it!

If it's a ceramic based compound, then it needs about 200 hours to harden to give optimal performance.

    hi lucio

yes thats true too...but to see absolutely no difference in performance is what is puzzling me.

Indeed yes it's quieter..temps are the same as stock. Wondering if the sensor on the fan is faulty now..when I increase the fan speed via ati tray tools or rivatuner there is no increase in noise. They show the fan increasing in rpm though. Odd.

IMO... i think it is the best your cooler can offer...

Have to compare your temp to any review of this cooler?

i have my zalman VF900... went around 65 - 70 under load and 55 idle...with XTX clock speed.

    Hi TarnxTarn

I compared my temps to all the reviews..on average the load temps were about 60 degrees or less..I am still getting load temps in the high 70s..exactly the same as the stock cooler...all at stock speeds too.
Might ask for a replacement if all else fails.

Here's a link for the temps..

I think I am going to blame the airflow in my case (fan and sensor are working fine)...gonna tie up all the loose ends and see what happens...thanks for the assistance anyway peeps.
