Motherboard opinion.

I like the look of the new gigabyte p35 based boards, as i plan on getting a q6600 when they drop in price these are supposed to be perfect for quad cores.

My question is what do you guys think of the GA P35C-DS3R, it has 4 slots for ddr2 and a further 2 for ddr3 as well as support for 45nm cpu`s, seems like a nice future proof board to me.

Looks like a nice board, why have they put a paralled port on the back panel.

Have you had a look at the Asus P5KC, little bit more price.

they have a nice layout and all the "ultra durable" stuff gigabyte are on about so it they should be good. I don't know if they are good overclockers though.

It is a ds3 board and they supposed to be pretty good overclockers, the things i like about it are 1. the price 2.support for ddr3 and 3. support for 45nm cpu`s (which must be the next line of intel chips).

I've got one of these arriving with a E2140 until the Qxxxx's drop in price as soon as Scan's stock arrives. I bought one because it seems fairly well covered in terms of future chips and memory, though PCI-E 2.0 isn't supported. Apparently they clock C2Ds just as well as the P965 chipset but as you say they do a better job of clocking quad core chips. It also supports Wolfdale as well as Penryn.

Why not use a cpu that isnt "FSB-resistant" when testing the overclocking capabilities of a motherboard?

They do write some excellent articles don't they. Saw a 'Hardcore DDR2 Overclocking' one the other day, in which they weren't using any Ballistix/Team stuff. Ah....
