Geil Ultra - Wrong Memory Timings

Hi People

Bought some Geil Ultra Dual Channel PC64000 Low Latency 4-4-4-12 recently. But CPU-Z and another app. shows 5-6-5-18 Timings. So I'm not happy. I take it I haven't been misled by my reputable online retailer , and that it is really a simple matter of adjusting the BIOS? My motherboard is
K9N SLI PLatinum.

And can software appz. adjust timings?

You have to manually enter the timings in the bios.

Those timings that are showing, will just be the SPD timings.

got the same mobo and ram, and as clunk says just manually adjust the timings.

Thanks a lot for your time guys. SuiciaL, you mentioned that you have the same mobo, could you manually adjust your voltage? Because I couldn't on mine. Bios is up to date, but I have read that it can be increased upto 2.45v.

And Hottentot, my RAM is running fine on the current voltage of 1.9, with the newly setted timings of 4-4-4-12, so do you think it's necessary? Will i get less errors if I did increase it or something? I did run memtest86 for 4 passes (about 2.3 hours) and it showed no errors.

You will get more stable performance at the higher voltage, less spiking of data, more streamlined. Motherboards usually set things to a relaxed state when you first power them up, so your ram was just relaxed so you could unlock the beast.

I'll guess I'll increase the memory voltage, once I figure out how to do it on the K9N SLI Platinum. Everythime I press 'Enter' in the voltage field, nothing happens (as I expect it should).

The RAM is rated to run at that voltage anyway, running it at 2.1v wont make it last a shorter time than running at 1.9v

yes you can manually adjust the voltage/speed/timings on this board, will pm you how when i get home as stuck at work.

I look forward to your PM suicidaL. Tried again to adjust timings, but no success. Though oddly, MSI's Core Center OC software allowed me to adjust it. But I rather do it permanently in BIOS.

Tried pressing -/+, Kalniel, but no success there.

oops, sorry people.

I was pressing the +/- keys at the top of the keyboard rather then the ones at the numberpad. Needless to say, I managed to increase mem voltage. Thanks all the same.
