Fake Memory Stick Duo from Ebuyer?!

    Hi,

I've just received a new 4GB memory stick duo. I bought it from Ebuyer so I didn't think I'd have to worry about it being a fake. After trying to format it in my DSC-W100 it comes up with "format error c:13:01" Though it seems to take pictures okay (though I've only taken a few - which get deleted okay on the apparently unsuccessful format).

After a little research I found that fakes generally come in packets sealed with 3 dots down either side, and genuine sony sticks come in heat-sealed packets with longer, staple shapped tabs. Mine looks like the former and so I am inclined to think it may be fake. Would this be possible from someone such as Ebuyer though?!

I am about to go to Glastonbury and don't want to fill up the card, only to have it develop a fault and lose all of my pictures? Anyone any thoughts?

I live in Leeds where there is a Sony centre, was thinking about stopping by there and asking them to check it...
...Thanks for breaking glass where my kids play...

I wouldnt think Ebuyer would be stocking fakes, they are a huge company. No harm in stopping in at the sony centre and asking, although, I doubt they'd be much help as they'll be more interested in selling you something.

I would hope not... but it's a bit suspicious, what with my error and the packaging thing.

Maybe if it's fake I'll buy a genuine one directly from them...
