    weird shuttle problem

bought a sd37p2 and it seems to sometimes not turn on properly.

doesn't show the bios screen ... but a quick off and on of the power and there it is, happy as anything.

i have no idea as to the cause of this, any takers?

Sorry I can't help but I have exactly the same problem with my ST20G5. No immediate similarities jump to mind except the shuttle brand...

nah WinXP. I do see some HDD activity (can see it on the front panel) though so it must be POSTing and then have trouble loading the OS - that sound right? u getting HDD activity on these failed attempts too?

yeah i think so (as far as i remember).

got a feeling it's shuttle being a buggy bios.

very well could be, i've never flashed the bios on this board (possibly the first owner didn't either) so it's probably ancient :-)

I would reflash the bios and see if that fixes it

    Also try clearing the cmos.

Though I think this maybe similiar the sn95g5 that when it has a cold boot up it refuses to boot correctly. Which is annoying and unfixable.

Oh well if it's unfixable no big deal, when my shuttle boots up the fans all go full pelt at first, then calm down after about 5 seconds if it's booted normally. i just wait 5seconds and if all the fans are still on full , hit the reset button before the OS starts loading :-)

Thats the cold boot problem I was talking about. I don't think anyone has ever found a fix
