Raid Guru needed
I'm trying to set up my system to run RAID 0 but everytime I try to install XP Professional it bombs after installing the RAID drivers with a blue screen message of 'A problem has been detected and Windows has been sut down to prevent damage... Remove hard drives or hard drive controllers....
I am using 2 Western Digital WD2500KS SATA drives and an ASUS P5B Deluxe motherboard.

could you get the whole message on the screen. also try get the latest drivers
-
So it gets as far as the full format, and then copying all the files across, then dies after the reboot?
-
after the reboot, have you set it to boot from the hard drive in question ?
and its not a bad idea to go to the website and download the latest set of drivers ?
you may by accident be trying to use 64bit drivers on a 32 bit install?
-
hmmm...a bit of a mystery. I used a slipstreamed disk to install XP on a similar system. i downloaded the drivers from the Intel web site (32 bit) and did it that way rather than using the f6 thing.
What drivers are you using? The setup I did was very similar - P5B delux with WD 250 GB SATA 2 disks.

Make sure the RAID array is what you want it to be then do a full format on the disc to wipe off any file tables, etc...

I had similar problems with raid, in the end it was my power supply believe it or not. It could not supply consistent good quality power to the drives, so they kept messing up on writing, so when it tried to read it back after rebooting it basically said the drives are corrupted. It's more sensitive on a raid0 array because of the way the data is split it's more easy to corrupt it, whereas on a normal drive it will just rewrite it without worrying because all the data is in one place.
Got myself an antec neohe550 and used the sata power connectors and my issues disappeared. :) Not saying that it is definately the PSU for you, but could be.
