Access time seems to be the closest stat between the 2.
Have you got an os & data on yet??
At least that will give you a feel how quick it is compared to what your used to.
No o/s on there yet, was still tinkering around with the settings until last night, and I thought it was best to wait until I know why the access times are so rubbishI'll see if I can find an email for adaptec.

As there isn't much info on these new Hitachi (non-deathstar) 7k1000.b with only 8mb cache (the cheap ones) - I thought it was worth posting my results to show the performance, sure it's not perfect but at 6p per gb

Those are basically telling you that quite a few sectors have had to be re-mapped as the drive has marked them as damaged.
I haven't really looked into this too much so not too sure whether 199 is enough to worry about....but seeing as the threshold is 140, I am guessing it's not good and I would do a backup soon.

How are you getting those speeds, i would expect the controller to be flooded as its not SATA III ?
