Does Crucial offer a transferable warranty?

Hi there,

Basically my Crucial Ballistix have gone completely tits up! I have the reciept for them but i purchased them 2nd hand off these forums, so there not in my name. Will Crucial have a problem with this? Will they send out replacements to me if I give them a different address? Or should i get in contact with the previous owner and maybe he could pass them on or something? There 2GB DDR1 so really expensive and I cant afford to ditch them!!

Yes they do.
I bought some Crucial RAM on an auction site about 4 months back and it was faulty.
THey sent me a brand new replacement within 3 days.

I've had no trouble returning memory to Crucial that I've bought elsewhere, without providing any receipts or proof of purchase so you should be absolutely fine. Mine was bought from ebuyer, and after a year or so started giving errors on memtest. Crucial sent me a replacement no questions asked.

I think in someways it seems to depend on the interpretation of a

lifetime guarantee

I know ocz interpret it widely & crucial appear to be the same. But i'm pretty sure others aren't, using a more narrow lifitime for 1 user

As far as I know, just call them up and ask for a RMA. I did this with a stick that came out of a 2nd hand Packard Bell desktop. They sent me the new stick pretty quickly.
