    Hiya,
As I said before, the 8800 Ultra is probably not worth it, I'd personally stick with the GTX - but that's personal preference.

I would dump Norton Security - it's rubbish.
I would drop the soundcard - I had a X-Fi Fatal1ty card, and didn't really notice the quality over onboard sound.

Why are you getting such small hard disks?

It does seem pretty expensive for what you're getting though as Shaithis said.

AD-15 - I just built that rig, albeit with more RAM, faster and larger HDD, slower GFX (8800GTS), better case, and bigger monitor, and it cost £700-800 less than what you've been quoted.

Most of the parts come with comprehensive warranties, it took me one evening to put it together, and one morning to install all the software. Well worth the money I think.

    change norton for kaspersky

and stay with the x-fi, b0redom, I could tell going from default sound to the x-fi ultra setting in 2142 so its all down to the game engine and if it can make use of the card..
plus the fact onboard sound is more CPU intensive than having it offloaded onto the x-fi.

    hello,

I will definetly not be building it myself, I would rather such an expensive system be built by pros. Bear in mind, I have included monitor, speakers, peripherals etc.

Are you sure it's not worth that price?? It looks pretty decent to me, the build and warranty altogether is only £120.

Thanks for your feedback so far guys!

BTW, I just called Paul Moss at Scan, and he mentioned that the PSU may just be borderline sufficient for such a system. To be honest, I was to say the least shocked, I was infact looking to downgrade it last night.

    What do you think?

for piece of mind its ok, most here would rather spend the time to do it right and take there time, attention to detail and all that !

of course thats going to guarentee the parts work when it arrives as they will test it.

If you're definately not going to build it yourself, then go for it. The price isn't too bad considering what you're getting, including all the peripherals, and you know scan will do a good job putting it togther. Most people here would still suggest you stay away from the Ultra as you're not going to be gaming above 1600x1050 on that screen (a fair few will point out you could get away with a 8800GTS 320), that would also save you some drain on your PSU (very suprised they said that Corsair 620 is borderline....I'd say you're well within the comfort zone for that PSU).

Just priced it all separately and have to agree it isn't too bad a price.....but there are some overly expensive components in that build....namely:

8800GTX Ultra.....Just get the GTX or the GTS 640MB
    Corsair PC8500.....VERY overpriced....Just get some PC6400
Silverstone TJ-09....£170 for a case? *gulp*
E6600.....E2160 will overclock the same and requires cheaper ram to hit the same speeds

Also...£175 for speakers. I have no idea how good they are but for not a lot more you can get a nice budget amp+speakers setup from richer sounds that should blow any pc speaker package out of the water.

That PSU is fine for the setup in the first post.

If you were going quad core and overclocking + SLI, then that might be a different matter.

I'd agree with ibm and Shaithis here
    8800GTS 640mb
pc6400 (esp if not extream overclocking)
differnt case (coolermaster stacker 831 (£142) or antec p180 (£81))
Stick with the e6600 if you're not going to overclock

    hello,

Thanks for all your input so far guys!

The case is one of few that I really like and that can actually accomodate the huge graphics card. Always good to have a bit of spare space too for little compromise on air flow.

I am planning on pushing this system to the very edge, with one game especially, FSX. It's a professional (almost) simulation that really is extremely demanding, so won't the slightly faster memory (the P35 can natively support 1066) and graphics card help?

What is wrong with the monitor? It has some very good reviews, and it's of a moderately high price.

Personally i'd ditch the zalman, i've got one and its noisy. i have a more pwerful pc next to mine with an Akasa A64 which is silent. The zalman is sounding like a spitfire all the time and its only 9 months old.
