subwoofer too close to computer?

With my new system I ordered the Creative G500 5.1 speakers.

The Subwoofer (I don't know the exact dimensions) is pretty large, and with that arrives a new concern.

I have just worked out how much space there will be between my sub and the tower. About 10cm.

Is this enough for the sub to have no effect on the hard drives?

I used the Z-5500 sat literally next to my PC for a few months - didn't have any problems at all.

Is the sub magnetically shielded?

I have no idea if it is shielded.

I know for a fact that the Z-5500 sub is supposed to be kept 30cm away from the hard drives, so I'm sure if you never had any problems, it should be OK.

I will take a look into it now.

I've got a 220w Sub from my 600w surround sound set sat 30cms at most from my tower, and it hasn't caused any problems

Just remember Subs are non directional sound, you can place it anywhere in the room

Even my Altec Lansing 2.1 is shielded so you should be fine, they just say that to cover themselves, just like "static will fry your PC" it might but its 1/1000
