    Need Recommendations for Fans

Right, Ive got an Antec Minuet II case sat under my TV making too much noise for my liking!

    http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=15101

    Its running the following:
    Celeron D 2.4Ghz (s478)
    1Gb PC 3200
    Asus P4P800-VM
    Radeon 9250 AGP
    220w Antec PSU
    Pinnacle PCTV

I obviously have limited space, but I need to ditch the Sunon 80mm fan on the side of the case and the stock Celeron HSF.

Can I have some recommendations for a small, but quiet s478 hsf for the Celeron and a quiet 80mm fan?

    Thanks

Check out CustomPC's fan lab test, they liked the Skarkoon golf balls fans:

I can echo CustomPC in recommending Sharkoon. Do what they say, unlike most fans which claim far more than they deliver.

I wasn't too impressed with the Sharkoon 2000 80mm I got from Scan, returned it within 7 days.

I've been quite impressed with the 80mm Coolermaster Blue LED fans though, half the price of the Sharkoon as well. So impressed with the first one that I bought another

Right I've found the only decent, small, quiet hsf for s478 I can find.

The Arctic Cooling Super Silent 4 Ultra:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=353438

Not bad for £5.20! Scan charge £4.99 to deliver it though, so it looks like Im off to eBuyer for their cheapo £2.74 delivery charge

Anyone used this hsf or got any other suggestions before I buy?

Not a chance either of those will fit Im afraid . The problem with this motherboard/case combination is that the CPU socket is very close to the PSU, meaning I have a very limited area around the socket for a decent size hsf.

The Nexus fans look good, I'll bear them in mind.

all my 80mm and 92mm fans are Papst. Shift a fair bit of air and are near silent. In total I have 3 120mm, 1 92mm and 2 80mm fans in my case and I can hardly hear it

I think Papst are quite expensive. If you're going to consider Nexus, then see if you can get hold of Yate Loon 80mm fans as I'm quite happy with the one I have.

you could trim the fins of the heatsink if it was a close fit...

My Girl friend's pc has a stock cooler and it's s478
It was getting extreemly noisy, when I opened the case to have a look I found the reason why.
A Layer of dust & fluf had formed between the heatsink and fan, basically it coated the top on the heat sink forming a mat which was blocking the airflow.
I used a cocktail stick to poke between the fanblades and dig out the dust (so I didn't have to take the cooler off the board )
    It's now running quite again.

    After much digging I've found the dimentions for the stock intel L 90mm x W 89mm x H 51mm
Not sure how much height clearence you have in that small case, but anything with a foot print of 90x90 should fit.

So that Artic Cooling Super slient 4 ultra should fit

    so should
    Akasa AK-675
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=152520

Gigabyte GH-PCU21-VG 3 in 1 Heat Pipe Super Cooler
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...roductID=98076
Although it might be a bit tall

another alternative would be to find a quiter fan to replace the one on the stock hs&f but the retaining bracket might be a problem here.

Got a Nexus fan at the same time as the Sharkoon. The Sharkoon is definitely quieter.

Admittedly the HSF does need a good clean! I'll have a go and see if it makes a difference, but Im almost definately gonna get the artic cooling one I posted above.
