OCZ...Reaper memory or not?

Just a quick one.

I already have 2 gb of the Platinum but the reaper looks great value....so whats the catch? Anyone enlighten me please?

BTW.......Please dont tell me to go for Corsair/Crucial/Geil etc etc. ....... I have always bought OCZ and its been extremeely good.

Had to what? Pay inflated prices for little to no performance gain over something like the Platinum

Can't deny the value for money from the platinum but at the same time my pc5300 ballistix was cheaper and overclocks very well indeed.

Normally the reaper is more expensive. Almost all the different versions of OCZ's top end stuff are the same IC's so I wouldn't stress over it, if you already have some platinum, get some more.

No, the lower end reapers, arent D9 aparently, just bog standard ram with a silly cooler.

I remember saving this link recently (although I can't remember from which forum). Anyway, this indicates that the Platinum Series Revision 2 uses ProMOS chips. The Reaper (PC-6400) doesn't seem to be listed though.

as opinionated as calling it rubbish may have been.. the fact that the reaper is cas5 compared to the platinums cas4 suggests the reaper isn't as good as the platinum to me as it's the same speed with slacker timings..

Thankyou....thats what i was hoping to hear but memory can be a bit of a minefieild.

So really then, the Reaper units are just gimmicky and nothing more then??

Anyway.....just ordered another 2x1gb of the Platinum
