hello,
I recently purchased a system from SCAN, which included the E6600. I got an offer from SCAN, which basically allows me to upgrade to a Q6600 for an extra £9.
I've looked at reviews, and I'm not impressed.
What do you think, should I take it?

hell yes!!
Definitely, it wont make much difference right now as not much is multi-threaded yet, but in the next few months more and more multi-threaded games and programs will be appearing.
And for £9 come on I spend £9 on lunch![]()
Absolutely, definitely![]()
May as well, but make sure your cooling is good if you plan on overclocking it![]()
Yes...
What about in today's games? Isn't it slower?
it wont be any slower in today's games but hopefully more of next generations games may be able to take advantage of multi core processors more effectively

for an extra £9definitely
i'm just waiting for the price to drop a little more and i'll swap my E6600 for a Q6600
Sounds more like a supermarket offer Buy 2 get 2 free;lol: , well ok £9. I'd go for it.
Hey if you're still not sure, I'll send you £9 and my E4300 which is good for 3.3ghz as a swap![]()
hello,
Thanks again guys.
By the way, I've had a look at the pricing, and it turns out the Q6600 will be £8 cheaper than the duo.![]()
I've been looking at reviews, and from what I can see there is no large benefit at all, especially in today's games. Although this is still worth it, I can see that unfortunetly power consumption is also higher.
In addition, I have the option to upgrade whenever I want in the future.
What do you think?
Can you upgrade for free in two yearsIt all depends on the deal you have with Scan doesn't it...
It's a good deal. You won't notice the difference now, but would in two years.

BTW, I just worked out that it would cost about £20 extra in power bills to run for 6hrs a day for half a year.
