What's the best mid range (£100 - £150) graphics card to get?
I was thinking:
Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro
or
Inno3D iChiLL 7900GS
Good choices? Alternatives?

The X1950PRO is faster than a 7900GS, but for that price you might stretch to a 8800GTS. If not, you may also try X1950XT.
As for X1950PRO, I'd choose Asus, it has a quiet two-slot cooler (Club3D has one with Arctic Cooling's cooler slapped onto it, but I don't know if their products are available there in the UK).
Edit: found the same as Club3D, from Powercolor:

And if you want an X1950XT:

Both have the same cooler.

If i was to get a 7900GS i would go for the Palit as it o/c like a demon
AS queelis suggests a few £s more you can get 8800gts.
If you have £150 to spend, It might be worth stretching the extra £30 for an 8800GTS. You'll not need an upgrade for a while.
At the lower price range I'd go for the inno3D 7900. Nice cooler and it should overclock well.
Hi, if you're using a 17 or 19 inch monitor, 1280 x 1024 resolution, the radeon x1950 pro is about the best performance you'll need, ebuyer presently has some sapphire cards, with 512mb for just under £100.
512 megs are not needed, as the resolution is pretty low.
If you can afford to break the £100 barrier by a good bit then your best bets are
ATi Radeon x1950XT Ebuyer £105
or
Nvidia Geforce 7950GT Ebuyer £108
(Currently, ebuyer seem to have better deals on the x1950xt and 7950gt than scan)
Next step up is the £180-190ish for a 8800GTS (prices have droped £20)
You shouldn't need 512mb/640mb for any thing 1280x1024 or 1440x900 or below (ie majority of 19inch or smaller tft monitors)

I've heard that the reference cooler of the X1950XT sounds like a jet turbine when it spins up, so I figured I'd check something other than that, hence the Powercolor.
Stretch for the 8800GTS, it's worth it.
Either:
- 256MB Power Color RX1950 XT ~ £116.24
or
- 320MB BFG Technology 8800GTS OC ~ £186.68
The GTS is a better card but bear in mind at 1280x1024 it's about 20% faster for 60% more money...
IMHO that is a short sighted view.
Texture sizes only ever go up. 128MB was fine not too long ago, but I wouldn't buy one now. 256MB may be OK for now, but I stumped up the little extra for 512MB on my last card to make sure it is usable in a years time (after making sure it wasn't one of those cards where the memory clock drops like a stone when they put twice as much RAM on it).
When I have finished with my current 7900GT it will no doubt end up in my wife's or son's PC, so I want it to be good for some years to come.
