    Unhappy Asus p4p8x , wd raptor

    Havin major problems getting my WD sata 'raptor' configured. Instal xp ok and service pack1 but when I try and put btbroadband modem drivers it all goes wrong.
    It says that i am running windows 3.1 with 1mb ram and 33mhz cpu and no usb slots!!!!!!!
    PLEASE somebody help!
    Tried bt bband help and that was a waste.

    SOMEBODY must know whats goin wrong.

    ASUS p4p8x, P4 3.0 cpu , 800fsb, 2x512mb 3200 ddr. etc

    You able to try and download a later version of the drivers just to see if there was a bug with that set?.

    which modem are you using - seems like you are not just trying to install the modem drivers, but the whole BT package/software utility (which includes the drivers) - I have always found that installing the drivers manually is the best way - this way you can force it within Device manager to install whatever driver you want.

    Right click on My Computer > Manage > Device Manager > and within "Other Devices" there should be an entry for your adsl modem - double click on this and manuall point it to the drivers for the modem (which as TiG said, you should download latest version of).

    BT's software is unnecessary as for Adsl you can set things up manually and avoid the overhead of having to use their software.
