Shuttle Replacement

Got an SN41G2 that currently used as an MCE box and sticks stuff on the telly.
Since upgrading the TV to an LCD one I'd like to be able to get some decent display so I can also see the PC side of things, MCE works fine when playing video's but the text etc in windows is unreadable so I'm looking at either changing the onboard GFX for something that'll do HDMI/HDTV/HDPC or whatever its called at the TV's native res.

Or replacing the lot for a proper HD MCE box.
Already got MCE and the remote.
Already got the Shuttle itself (maybe an OS change if *nix supports the remote?)
Also got some spare SATA Drive's
Spare E6320
Spare DDR2

New graphics card sounds like the best & cheapest route. What inputs do you have on the telly? Plain VGA in seems pretty common, but there are cheap graphics cards out there that can do hdmi with the hdcp encryption over it.

ATM the Shuttle plugs in from the TVO and audio into the back of a SCART plug and then into the TV that way, Shuttle runs at 1024x768 atm which is fuzzy as hell on the TV, the TV does have HDMI input tho so I was thinking some form of AGP card, preferably fanless that'll do the native res of the TV with an HDMI out on it, or maybe DVI and then get a DVI-HDMI converter.
I've found some nice cards but there all PCI-E which is making me think maybe time to ditch the Shuttle, which is a shame as it does what I want its just the output thats letting it down.

Aha, unless of course it doesnt have a silent sink, looks like its got a fan according to the reviews.

Hmmm, heres another thought, is there a silent heatpipe/chuffin big heatsink for the Sapphire 9800Pro as I have one of them laying around from when I upgraded to PCI-E...

If you are currently using on-board graphics on the Shuttle, then even the cheapest 6200 card will be higher spec that what you are used to and should give you a DVI port to plug an adaptor into. Such a card also generates almost no heat so they are all passive cooled.

If you want a 7300GT that is passive, try looking for a 7600GS as they are almost the same cost. They are actually the same board & chip, but with all 12 pipes turned on in the gpu.

Do you actually play games on it? My media pc is specced to play World of Warcraft, but that doesn't take much
