Too little too late again from DFI.

Heard of a lot of RMAs with those as well, due to...........whistling!

There was a good review on hexus of the Abit AB9 Pro i965 and the standard version looks like the only differnces are:
    1 lan instead of 2
    6 sata intead of 9
    no external sata

For that price it looks like a great deal.

In fact scan now have the Pro version for £82.42 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=433274

    Get an AB9 QuadGT......

TBH I believe this is a general 965 problem across lots of manufacturers.... I have even seen some QuadGTs chirp or whistle.....

it's not just 965s though & some gfx cards do it too.
QuadGT doesn't seem to be majorly affected by it in the way that Commando & DFi 965-Ss do.

For the motherboard i have around £130

Have seen the Commando at £116

Striker extreme at £155 and the P5K at £165 and as the commando dos'nt seem to be that good or popular i could stretch to £165 for the P5k.

Just need to get a decent mobo that will see me through a bit

IP35 Pro should be in your price range & is highly regarded as is the Gigabyte P35-DQ6 if you are prepared to look at other mfrs than Asus..

    Is the P5K £165 now?

Im not sure that it is worth that to be honest, even as good as it is.

As buff says, have a look round, and dont forget about the P5B deluxe, that is still an excellent board that is rock solid and overclocks well.

Get a QuadGT. It will be just a quick as any other board, a lot less hassle, you can get great support, and you will have money over to spend on GPU or RAM - make sure you get a good PSU (eg Seasonic, Corsair).

If you Really Want a Commando - I have one that works great (but not as good as the less expensive QuadGT) - buy a QuadGT and I will swap it for my Commando - so you will save money!!!!!!
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.
