    Asus Commando.......

Does anyone have or used one of these, or have any insight to this board? It looks the same as the striker extreme, but the only difference that i can tell is that it has the Intel P965 chipsets, and the striker has Nvidia 680i.
Like most people i will be going quad and was looking at both these boards. Or is there one that is as good but preferably cheaper.
I do also like the idea of the P5K Deluxe but again its pricey.

You need to have a search on here for commando, theres a long thread about it, and youll probably change your mind after reading it

The P5K deluxe is a great board, and worth the few quid extra.

[QUOTE=Clunk;1139655]You need to have a search on here for commando, theres a long thread about it, and youll probably change your mind after reading it

I will search for the thread just for a read to see what you guys think about it

Have also noticed that you have a P5K and was gonna ask how it perfoms...................then realised it is in your sig

I will also have a look into the Abit and Gigabyte board as a option.

I am not upto date with the right choice of motherboards as i am only a mild o/cer. Would the boards mentioned be ok with Ballistix 8500?

ETS: I see you have those to Clunk also just found the thread on the P35-DS4

My commando is fine, its just the first few were duff as you will see in the thread, and that ruined its reputation. If you want somthing with all the bells and whisles then get a 680i, but if you want somthing proven to be solid then get a ds4/quad gt/wi-fi delux.

Middle ground would be something like an Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP for £116.90, good overclocker too. Or is that still too much?

Anyone know what the Abit AB9 i965 is like?

There was a good review on hexus of the Abit AB9 Pro i965 and the standard version looks like the only differnces are:
    1 lan instead of 2
    6 sata intead of 9
    no external sata

For that price it looks like a great deal.

In fact scan now have the Pro version for £82.42 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=433274
