    Speaker stands!!

    Hello,

Does anybody know where I can get speaker stands?

I need them to be as CHEAP as possible, I already feel like I've wasted my money on surround sound.

    hello,

    Thanks for link.

I have however managed to find cheaper ones at Maplin (£15) but this is still a bit much.

Does anybody know where I can get some for £10?

    I just found these:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5345629.htm

Do you think that's actually only one stand?

Anyone think they can find cheaper?

    Thanks!

    hello,

    I've found these:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5345629.htm

What do you think? Do they look of decent quality, and do you think they support the G500 rear speakers?

EDIT: sorry, I forgot I posted about it earlier on, I was tired.

im not sure what (if any) mountings the s500's your getting (i think its you lol) are, might be better off waiting until you get them as they often come with a stand that doubles as a wall mount, or even several types of stand to account for various mounting. i think my last creatives had two stands for the center speaker so you could have it above or below the monitor.

at least then you can go to argos armed with the speaker so you can return any of the stands if the mountings are not compatable on the spot.

just an idea to wait and see. as for stands, the speakers your buying are just pooter speakers, so you dont need to look into the accoustic quality of your floors, stands etc not a lot is going to make them sound better than they do out the box.

not quite the same story if you just blew a grand on a pair of speakers.

could also pop to B&Q as they do some funky little speaker stand/mounts if memory serves. or even some funky little shelves to stick up?

*edit, it you decide against stands, B&Q sell stick on plastic cable trunking for about £3 to make the wiring neat and hidden.

    Hello,

Thankyou so much for your help.

What I meant by the quality, is not whether they would affect the acoustic output, but whether they would collapse with the speakers on?

They look somewhat cheap and I've been looking for ages and I've never been able to find anything on this 'Ross' company.

They look cheap cause they are cheap! These stands are for small speakers about the size of your hand. If you've got anything bigger then you'll have stability problems. Been there, done it, got the sore head as the speaker fell on it...

    Thanks for your help!

I went ahead and got these stands, and I tried assembling them today. No probs, except a pair of nuts where not screwing on properly, so I had to ask for some replacements. Speakers don't arrive until Wednesday anyway, so no problem.

I found that the stands come with M3, M4, M5, and M6 screw types. Would this be ok with my G500 speakers?

    Thanks again!

    hello,

Sorry, I made a mistake in my previous posting about the size of the screws. Here is what it says on the sheet:

    2pcs Screws: M6 x 20mm
    2pcs Screws: M5 x 12
    2pcs Screws: M5 x 18
    2pcs Screws: M4 x 20
    2pcs Screws: M6 x 15
    2pcs Nuts: M6 (???????)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
