    HTPC PSU up to x2?

    Right, heres the new setup. I'll be collecting it all from CCL on monday.

    New parts:
    AMDx2 3600 sAM2
    Abit AN-M2HD - 7 series nvidia onboard with HDMI/HDCP (HW accelerator for HD)
    1Gb OCZ Value PC5400
    NEC AD-7170S-OB SATA DVDRW
    2m HDMI cable

    Existing parts:
    Antec Minuet case
    220w Antec PSU
    SATA HDDs
    MCE remote, mini kb etc

    Anything Im missing?

    Is my Antec 220w PSu up to running an x2?

    3.3v = 17a
    5v = 20a
    12v = 12a

    Its only got 12a on the 12v rail. Thats the only rail!!

    What else is it running? If you haven't got a discrete graphics card and only one hdd+dvd then it should be fine and dandy. Have a look for a PSU calculator if you're worried.

    Its gonna be running 2 HDDs, 1 DVDRW and onboard 6100 graphics (NF430 chipset). Would that be ok?

    Thoughts....anyone? I really wanna get this ordered.

    PSU calculator says 326w, but that sounds a bit on the high side to me.

    Hmmmm, does seem a bit high. What processor are you currently running it with? The S939 X2 3800+ listed as 89W - one of these: http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desk...=ADA3800DAA5BV

    Yes, it should be fine.

    Im even looking at an am2 3600 as they only draw 65w! To pair with a Abit AN-M2HD as its got a 7 series geforce onboard with HDMI output

    Anyone know if the stock cooler is quiet with these AM2 chips??

    If you're on AM2 then get any of the energy efficient dual cores, they all run at 65W. But unless you are doing high def stuff then the X2 3600+/3800+ EE will be fine.

    Ill be doing 720p. According to the reviews Ive read on the Abit AN-M2HD board I should be fine as the onboard vga takes the load via purevideo. Ill probably use 30% CPU going by the reviews. I also plan to oc the chip a fair bit.

    Hmmm, I think overclocking on a 220W psu is a bit ambitious. I think you'd bit better off starting with a better processer.

    True. I suppose its either £30+ on a better psu or spend that £30+ on a better cpu....
