    C2D all the way.

    1. The AMD is old technology now.
    2. The AMD is hotter.
    3. The AMD is less efficient.
    4. The C2D is a faster chip in practically all applications.
    5. The C2D is a way better overclocker

i'd say go for the cheapest they are bth pretty much on a par with each other at stock the fx-62 will just edge it over the 6420

its overclocking that seperates the card the e 6420 will do 3ghz or there about and the fx-62 may also do 3ghz but both cpus at the same clock speeds of 3ghz the intel will win as after years of poor performing cpus intel finally got the hardware working to its full capacity with c2d

    hope this helps mate

Even though the C2D is clearly a better chip, if you already have a set-up and can just swap an AMD out and put this in, then AMD is clearly the best option for you personally.
