little tip for gigabyte users

as you probably know your bios jumper is under the gfx card, and if you have a sound card you cant fit a screwdriver down there to short it.

so...

take your gfx card out, find a two or three pin plug with corresponding wires like a reset switches wire into the jumper, and then cut the other end of the lead off so your left with two wires. all you need to do now to reset cmos is touch the wires for 30 seconds.

ive just left my wires in opposite sides of the case so they cant touch, but if you can solder you could make a very nice switch or wire it into a button or power reset switch on your case

Why not extend the wires so they are outside the case? Wrap some electricians tape around each end, and pull off when/if needed.

yup frustrated me for ages before i thought of that method, having to take the hdd out, unplug the satas, take the gfx out, reset, and put it all back in again everytime.

you could take it outside but it doesnt look very neat. a switch on the back of the case would be best bet

You could always get a simple switch from maplins, or use a reset button from another old/unsed case, if you want it to look neat. Some mobo manufacturers are supplying external clear cmos switches now (and it's about time), to make it easier on OC'ers when they go to far.

Seems abit extreme for a sake of a cmos reset. Think of the amount of times you'll use it after everything is up and running (stable). Cool idea still, just rather minimize wiring

What are you guys talking about? What Gigabyte board do you have?

You should have no need to clear your BIOS that way.

Gigabyte uses software embedded in the Flash ROM, its called Q-Flash.
Gigabyte boards generally also offer you 2x BIOS on the motherboard, which is actually very nice.
Especially for those of you who like O/C.

Why have all these wires, when Gigabyte has it built-in.

Can't you just turn off your PC for 5sec or so and then just turn it back on to clear the CMOS after a bad overclock? -- My old Asus K8V Deluxe does this so I would have thought all modern boards do by now :s.
