    But we can't comment about products that currently don't appear to exist.
    So what changed in the last couple of days for the price of a Q6600 to jump from approx £222 (today only), regular price of £234, up to today's price of £276? Intel hasn't changed their pricing, so why the £50 price hike?

    Edit: Don't get me wrong, you're prices are generally excellent, just I don't understand why they are up and down like a yo-yo when the price to you should be constant.

    One would guess supply and demand. They just had the Q6600 on today only at a great price, and you can bet they sold a few, so are running low on stock, hence the increase in price (Demand is still high, their supply is now low)

    They have probably ordered some at the new price, but can't/won't sell them now. Be patient

    Yes, I'm sure you're right

    It just caught me on the hop - expecting to see drops, and suddenly the price shoots up. Who'd want to be a large computer e-tailer, heh

    ... did I also say that we can get deliveries at any time through the day... and that prices can also drop, as well as increase?

    Are the new E6x50 processors of G0 revision? I've read that some are marked as E0 but maybe this is only the first batch? Anybody know? I don't want to wait too long for G0 to start appearing. Apparantly they are stamped as SLA9U.

    Regarding the price, that will probably keep decreasing (although slightly) for a few weeks after the 22nd before stabilising but who knows how low they'll go.

    Well, if overclockers are taking preorders at £199, I'd say less than that as they're usually pricey. How much less is anyone's guess until next week.

    I think Scan will be getting a flood of emails to their Today Only requests inbox

    Just typed in the E6x50 series into ebuyer and it comes up with the following prices:

    E6550 -> £86.00 Ex. VAT £101.06 Inc. VAT
    E6750 -> £96.00 Ex. VAT £112.80 Inc. VAT
    E6850 -> £136.00 Ex. VAT £159.80 Inc. VAT

    I bit cheaper than I expected! According to the list that's been floating about, the Q6600 is supposed to be the same price as the E6850 ($266 per 1000) so it looks promising. I still don't know whether the E6x50 series are guaranteed G0 stepping though...

    The E6x50 series are of G0 stepping, so if you got one it should be.

    Fantastic stuff and there is also the E4500 2.20GHz at £83.43 Inc. VAT, which should be good for some overclocking madness with that 800Mhz FSB.

    You know what, I fancy building two or three new PCs just for the fun of it all

    Yeah what he said.

    Also, which would be a better buy, Q6600 or E6850? Is the heat/performance the main factors to consider? I'm considering either for my new build.

    Depends on what you do with your computer, if you do a heap of multitasking or use heavily multithreaded programs the Q6600 is a winner every time, if you're just doing gaming or using a lot of legacy programs the E6850 would be the better choice.
