I had a hell of a time getting my freeview box to work and then when it did some of the channels didn't work!
Yet 2 others in the same house work perfectly, even in the room next to mine!
Digital signal is very fickle when it comes to walls, try moving it through the house where there are windows facing in different directions.

The bundled antennas tend to be useless, try plugging it into your main one.

Do you have other working freeview boxes in the house? If so it should work. The USB models when connected to small ariels and not the main house one are notoriously fickle. It may be worth trying it elsewhere in the house if possible.

As others have said, what aerial are you using?

The little one that comes with it will be totally useless to you, you will need to connect it up to your main house aerial socket to stand a chance of getting a signal. If you still have problems and are using the main aerial, the next step is to try a signal booster. You can get one from dixons or curries etc for about £10, and they can really help to give you a better signal..using one of those boosters I managed to get all the freeview channels in a fairly low signal area a few years ago

just comfirming what everyone else is saying, the aerials that come with the cards are completely useless, don't understand why they are bundled with them still.

I find my Hauppauge USB stick is nowhere near as good as the Hauppauge PCI card wen plugged into the same roof aerial.

If you can upgrade to a PCI card, I found that worked great for me.
